hanpan is an underrated character
I admit I half made this post wondering if anyone else would even know who I'm referring to
Hanpan was my favorite character in that game, and even was the indirect inspiration for the Bitkin. It's been a long path from there, but I liked the idea of a shoulder-sitting mouselike sidekick so much that I gave my main character at the time one, and that's where it started.
@dodec On top of being cute, he's also a reasonably well-written supporting character. I'm sad that his entire species seems to have disappeared in the later games.
There were a pair of them in the anime, but I don't remember that being much good.
@dodec I didn't know there even was an anime, though I guess I'm not surprised--a lot of video games of the time ended up getting mediocre anime series.
(hanpan is a character from Wild Arms, and the only wind mouse (small talking mouse friend with a long tail, https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/wildarms/images/f/f4/HapanACF.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20180613184854 ) who you see in the entire series. He accompanies Jack Vambrace and basically fills the role of Jack's (constantly ignored) voice of reason, because he's lacking one himself
