The Czochralski process was invented by accident, when Jan Czochralski accidentally dipped his pen in a pot of molten tin instead of an inkwell. Because who doesn't keep a pot of molten tin on their writing desk, right?

Also learned today: One of the most effective ways of creating high magnetic flux densities is to literally compress the magnetic flux with explosives: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Explosiv

This is also an effective way of generating extremely high electrical current.

Of course it's only very short pulses and you can only use the device once, but few things approach it in effectiveness.
