Anderson powerpole connectors are just so satisfying
also genderless, like me!
ooh? do show, pls
@nautilee https://powerwerx.com/anderson-power-powerpole-sb-connectors this seems to be the main distributor for them. they're popular in hobby radio and RC stuff, it seems! We're using them because they're cheap connectors that can handle a _lot_ of current
ooh those are pretty nifty looking, also I see they come in a lot of colors for easily organizing which wire goes to what
@nautilee they do! and you can stick them together into blocks, too, with built-in dovetail joints
@nautilee they're genderless connectors so two identical ones can mate by just turning one upside down, which means you don't have to get two different parts for the plug and socket
fuckin *nice*
@nautilee the downside, or possibly upside, is that they require a _lot_ of force to pull apart, especially when it's a block of several of them (at least, the larger ones do)
honestly that sounds like a safety feature considering you mentioned they can handle a lot of current
@nautilee Yeah, but even when they're off and you know what you're doing it takes an unreasonable amount of force to disconnect them sometimes.
and now people got me thinking about connector design and now I'm thinking it'd be nice to be able to lock together connectors of different sizes; you can put the powerpole connectors together into a block of connectors but they have to all be the same size connector, which you might not want
not sure how you'd engineer that though
