privileged things (+?)

Talked to our dad about wanting to get a hybrid or electric vehicle (we've mentioned this desire several times before) and asked for advice on how to save up money for one and his response was "why don't you go to local dealers and look at used ones, I'll help you buy one if it's something you feel strongly about"

so uh, probably going to go to a carmax today and ask to see some cars

this is kind of sudden and not what I was expecting to happen

@Felthry Good luck. My love's looking at a certified-used hybrid or electric as replacement for a 14-year-old Civic that's deciding every week to get some new nagging little issue.

re: privileged things (+?)

@Austin_Dern we test-drove a prius yesterdday and the ergonomics in it were kind of weird but *53 miles per gallon*

re: privileged things (+?)

@Felthry Yeah, I mean ... that kind of improved fuel economy alone *typically* means you're making an ecologically wise choice.

I have always felt something a little weird sitting in a Prius (my brother was an early buyer) but I'm not sure that isn't just that I always feel a bit weird.

re: privileged things (+?)

@Austin_Dern the instrument cluster being centered instead of behind the wheel is kind of weird

re: privileged things (+?)

@Felthry Yeah ... my (uninformed, casual) read on it is too many hybrid or electric vehicles let computer people design the interface, rather than car designers, and some good lessons are being slowly relearned.
