taurs are nice, but have you considered: hextaurs

...ohh, I think my mental map of a taur didn't line up with the one you were using - I was imagining
* upper torso with arms and no legs
* lower torso with four legs
and the search results for hextaur seem to go:
* upper torso with arms+front pair of legs
* 2x lower torso plus additional pair of legs
