I want to get a thing to hold and display our video game collection

the games other than gb/gbc/gba/ds/3ds games are all fine, they're all in their own little boxes and stuff

but the cartridge games, how do I put those on a shelf in a way that we can look at them and pick one out without having to dig through a pile of games

@Felthry I had a GB game rack thing but that wouldn't work for your purpose b/c it stacked them all on top of each other

my first thought is that flat "shelving" wouldn't be too hard to make, you really just need a stiff backing w/ strips of something maybe 1~1.5cm thick glued on to act as shelves. then you could use it as a wall hanging (with some padding behind the bottom so it rests at an angle) or freestanding (with some legs)

@Lioness we have access to 3d printers through our school so we could make something custom in rigid plastic, hmm

I was also thinking maybe some kind of book-style storage would work acceptably well, even if it doesn't make it obvious at a glance it's easy enough to take out and flip through

i'd want something nicer than a binder though

@Felthry I checked what my roommate does and… they keep all the original packaging & just have a shelf of DS games above the shelf of console games

@Lioness yeah we don't have the cases for most o fthese games unfortunately; most of them we bought without a case and the ones we did get new, most of the cases got lost at some point

@Felthry my roommate is also permanently out of shelf space, so, I can't say it's the correct decision

Follow

@Lioness advice from our mom is to look for things made for storing things other than specifically DS games, and we found this: amazon.com/dp/B0799FF1HJ/ref=p

looks promising!
