today we learned: due to damage while shipping it cross-country, apparently the Galileo spacecraft's mission had to be reworked because its main antenna didn't properly unfold, and so it couldn't send data back to earth at anything close to the designed bit rate since it had to use its secondary, low-gain antenna instead
