concept: fighting game where all the animations and stuff are slow, rather than really fast and hard to react to

i feel like it'd completely change how one plays the game

@Felthry The slowest fighting games I can think of that in any way benefited from their slowness is Bushido Blade 1 and 2 on the PlayStation. Those are slow, "realistic" swordfighting simulators where a single solid hit is a kill, so the slow speed adds a lot of interesting tension.

@connie this post was actually prompted by thinking about the fighting in dark souls and how it compares to like, smash or something

a fighting game with combat balanced similarly to dark souls would be interesting

@Felthry my personal love for fighting games is actually why I like PVP in Dark Souls so much, though not so much in 1 because it's so terribly balanced! in 2 and 3 I love having duels all day, and actually get really excited when I get invaded, because it's like a surprise fighting game moment in the middle of my action RPG

@connie personally, we'd want fighting game moments to not be surprises!
