listening to the prerecorded tapes and stuff they included with the first stereo tape machines is kind of fascinating

In our case, we don't really think about where sound is coming from for the most part. When it does, we see it as coming from the TV/screen, as a singular source.

Unless we're wearing headphones or earbuds, most audio could probably be switched to mono and we would never notice.

@The1AndMany we notice on our laptop, but it has particularly good speakers

also you'd defnitely notice if it was being played out of just one of the speakers, though if it was downmixed and played out both speakers equally yeah you could easily just not notice
