what is a timeshare exactly anyway
-F
@LexYeen yeah, I got that much from searching but why does everyone say they're massive scams?
-F
@Felthry That, to my understanding, was due to a rash of fake timeshare scams back before the internet made "is $business_name a scam" an easy question to find an answer for. After all, if one has a bunch of paperwork that *looks* like it's official and one can find someone willing to believe it is long enough to get away prior to the information age...
@LexYeen apparently they still are though, because what got me wondering about this was seeing a question on stackexchange that was about $1 timeshares you can buy on ebay, and lots of people saying "hell no that's a major scam don't do that" (which... the price alone would kinda imply that)
-F
@Felthry Oh yeah, they're still attempted to this day! They've just had to up their game in terms of hiding from the authorities, so their targets have had to become... Less canny, shall we say.
@Felthry as I understand it, and assuming you mean timeshare properties, a timeshare is a location which you partially own with other persons and have access to on a schedule agreed upon by all parties involved.
