tales of zestiria minor spoilers
the incident that really drove in how bad this game's message is was having a whole Thing in a sidequest where you learned about the city guard (basically police) being corrupt and taking bribes (not to mention "police brutality" that was specifically mentioned in those exact words earlier in the game)... and then immediately thereafter you catch this gang of pickpocket/burglar children who explicitly state that they steal because they don't have any other way to survive... and you're immediately presented with an option, do you turn them in to the city guard or not
both options result in turning them in to the city guard, who we *just* established were corrupt, and the characters all seem to agree that this is a good thing

@Felthry "Do you turn in the desperate starving people or do you turn them in? Choose wisely."

@KamareDrache what makes it even worse is that this is the same series that has games like Vesperia and Symphonia with actual good messages

@KamareDrache like in tales of vesperia the *protagonist*, as in the character you are playing as, straight up murders no less than two corrupt politicians, and the game portrays this as a good thing--a *heavy* thing, and not something anyone should do lightly, and arguably not the best course of action, but in no way does the story imply in the slightest that it was the wrong thing to do

@Felthry Nice
re: tales of zestiria minor spoilers
there are several other things i could mention here where this game just has a bad political stance in general but that one was really egregious
