today we learned: apparently, in the UK, hunting is seen as a posh thing that rich people do

here in the US it's seen as a low-brow kind of thing, basically the exact opposite

@Felthry It's because we don't really have a lot of wildland that encroaches on farms etc. in the same way

That and all the land is owned by rich people who deliberately breed animals just to be hunted, or just hate foxes.

@DarkOverord in the US at least hunting is associated with "redneck" and "hillbilly"... culture, is probably not the right word but the best i can think of

like to the point that the stereotype of a rustic southerner includes "owns at least one shotgun and one hunting rifle"
