I don't recommend it unless you first play through every game prior to it in the trails series though, including two that are currently japanese-only

@the_gayest_goat_in_town (it's a series you *really* want to go into unspoiled, and later games contain a lot of references to earlier ones that would be spoilers if you haven't played them first. actually, cold steel 1 and 2 take place at the same time as zero and azure so the latter games, despite being earlier in the series, still contain spoilers for the former ones...)
