@heatherhorns I think it's also important to note that the NFT isn't the art itself, it's a piece of text with no legal weight behind it that says you own a thing that is found at a particular URL.

@Felthry @heatherhorns if NFTs were exactly the same except the ledger was maintained like you'd maintain a normal ledger, i. e., not by competing to see who can burn the most electricity / graphics cards / real physical resources, they'd be totally fine imo.
Actual DNS servers track way more important URI ownerships at much higher bandwidth for much lower resource costs.
