when you use a tool on a daily basis it starts to feel really normal and nothing exceptional but
if you think about it a lot of the equipment we use as electrical engineers is really fascinatingly complex stuff

@Felthry legit curious how that'd void the warranty
@zaradragon it technically wouldn't because the "warranty void if opened" thing is not legal in the US but we don't have the legal power to go up against keysight if they say it is
it'd definitely void the calibration though, opening up any precision instrumentation does
-F
@Felthry ok yeah fair. especially on the calibration bit
@zaradragon i guess it'd be transcat (the used equipment dealer we got it from--yes, it cost $100k used, this is extremely expensive equipment) we'd be going up against if we tried to claim warranty on it after opening it up but still

@Felthry standing on the shoulders of giants
@zaradragon yeah absolutely
just think about all the time and effort that went into the development of the modern digital oscilloscope or even a plain old multimeter
even the cheap $5 garbage multimeters you can get at ace hardware represent incredible technological advancement

i'd love to take apart the 1505 and look at how it does all its stuff but i don't think our boss would appreciate us voiding the warranty on a $100k piece of equipment
