it is snowing far too much for us to be comfortable driving to work and i am really hoping we don't get into any trouble for requesting to use some time off to come in late

@Felthry eeesh - I feel like your workplace really ought to be counting "the roads are unnavigable" as excused absence

like, a liberal leave policy or something, at least

@packbat i suspect they will count that, we just haven't gotten a response on our email yet

we also probably have a lower threshold for unnavigable than our coworkers because we're the only ones with little to no experience driving in snow and ice, everyone else has lived here or somewhere similarly snowy for years, in some cases their entire lives

@Felthry *nods*

Sympathies regardless - it's stressful to have to navigate that kind of thing while hoping people will be reasonable

@Felthry @packbat I'd expect, if there's actual people making staffing decisions there, that they'd be very sympathetic to being late for inclement weather. Especially for someone with little experience driving in the snow.

(I also imagine you've been given all the snow-driving advice you can take, but, I'm confident that you're thoughtful, cautious, and mindful, so likely to drive better than someone who figures, they've been through 25 winters so they've got this.)

@Austin_Dern @packbat it sounds like our direct supervisor (who is also the person who would be most inconvenienced by it) is fine with it, so that makes things feel a lot better

@Felthry @packbat Very good to hear!

No reasonable person should fault you for being less than the weather, but it's good knowing your local boss is reasonable about this.
