violence mention, in a movie
what movie was it that had some antagonist character pull out a sword and do all kinds of technical sword dancing to try to intimidate the protagonist, and then the protagonist just pulls out a gun and shoots the guy? was that a monty python movie? or maybe indiana jones?
randomly remembered that for some reason

re: violence mention, in a movie
@douglasfur it really feels like a monty python gag more than indiana jones but for some reason i thought it might have been indiana jones, apparently that was right

@Felthry It's certainly in an Indiana Jones movie, although I couldn't tell you which one other than that it's one of the 80s films. It's featured in the pinball game.
(There's one mode where you have a limited time to shoot one particular, difficult target, while the sword-wielding guy animation plays. Or, you can just hit the button on the automatic ball launcher, which looks like a gun pistol. It's worth fewer points, but it is a sure thing.)

@Austin_Dern @Felthry It is a scene from the Raiders Of The Lost Ark movie.

@Felthry the story I heard is that it was an ad-lib by Harrison Ford, which explains why it's funnier than most of George Lucas's writing
re: violence mention, in a movie
@lioness that makes at least two times Ford has ad-libbed something better than whatever Lucas could have written in that place

re: violence mention, in a movie
@Felthry I think all the good lines in Star Wars were either actors' or his wife's (the producer?) decisions
re: violence mention, in a movie
@lioness probably--as the prequels show, George Lucas is not good at character writing, much more focus on worldbuilding and large-scale stuff

re: violence mention, in a movie
@lioness also we had no idea lucas was involved with indiana jones, but then again we don't know much about what he did other than star wars and lucasarts games

I'm also reminded of 'Avatar vs Black Wolf' where the wizard protag makes it to the wizard antagonist and just pulls out a gun and shoots him and it works
