@codl https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/b-b-battery/BP1-2-12-T1/653328 would this little lead-acid battery work?
-F
@codl you could also of course do a lithium-ion battery with a boost converter of some sort but that's boring (unless you mess it up in which case it gets very exciting in all the wrong ways)

@Felthry huh! maybe, im gonna have to look into how lead acid batteries are charged
@codl lead acid is pretty foolproof, of course it's still dangerous if you do it really wrong (batteries contain a lot of energy in a small space and letting that out too fast is a problem) but VRLAs like that one especially are pretty hard to mess up

@codl You can do really simple charging methods, but if you want there are things like the MAX17702 lead-acid charger controller IC too--https://datasheets.maximintegrated.com/en/ds/MAX17702.pdf

@codl i think it should be okay to charge it just from a current-limited 13~13.5 V power supply though. you won't get full capacity (that would require charging it up to around 14.4 V) but you can be pretty sure it won't do any damage if you limit to a lower voltage than that -F
@Felthry this is for sticking in a project so i'd rather not have to do pd negotiation
