@LexYeen given that we don't know how star trek replicators work, does "feedstock from an animal" imply an animal was killed to obtain it, or that it was lab-grown from a sample taken without harming the animal?
that would determine whether it would be vegetarian or not, but neither case would probably count as vegan

@Felthry Star Trek replicators are related to Trek's transporter technology, in that they convert sterile, homogenous feedstock into inanimate objects (food, clothing, tools, etc) through matter-energy conversion and atomic-resolution matter assembly techniques. About the only thing they can't produce is living material. There's no requirement whatsoever for feedstock material to be from living things, or even organic matter either, just that the feedstock material contains enough of whatever elements (as in, periodic table of) are required to create the desired end product.
