Y'know how my neighbor Totoro has like nearly no conflict for the whole plot, and when it finally gets one it's pretty minor

I need more films that are confident enough in their vibe to do that

@derFisch that's kinda the case for a lot of ghibli movies i think, though totoro more than most

iwrc Kiki's Delivery Service didn't have much in the way of conflict either, and even ones that do have prominent conflict like Nausicaä the conflict feels more like background than Part Of The Story?

@derFisch i think it's a big part of why ghibli movies just feel so comfy

@Felthry @derFisch Most of them are a slice of life where a bunch of stuff happens and I guess that's just too realistic and chill for most people to cope with

@fluffy @derFisch i guess it's just so different from superhero action movies that seem to be all anyone makes these days

i want more cozy stuff though

@Felthry I wouldn't really agree with kiki not having conflict as the whole conflict is centered around her burnout and coming to terms with it, which is definitely a capital C Conflict with capital S Stakes (though again, relatively minor)

@derFisch it's been a long time since we watched it, maybe we don't remember how prominent things are in the story
