A "we'd better get you looked at by a specialist just to be sure" appointment scheduled at Saturday's optometrist visit ended up being the right decision, turns out a visual artifact that seemed benign was actual retina detachment in one eye from lattice degeneration that's occurring in both. I stayed two extra hours just so the doctor could scar the hole(s, plural) in my left retina with a laser, a process that in terms of pain eats electrolysis for fucking breakfast
