@chartier We lived for most of our childhood in a place that didn't have on-street parking either, and when we first saw people parking on the street regularly, it was a strange sight. To kid us, it was like you were asking to get your car run into. (because "don't go out in the street on your own or you'll get run over")
But it was also a soulless suburb, pretty but not much beyond pretty. It's different to see a place that looks lived-in that way.
