troubleshooting my garage door opener, long

The garage door opener has had a weird semi-failure state since we moved in here.

- The button on the wall works 100% of the time
- The remote works in the garage on the passenger side of the car but not driver
- The remote does not work outside at all
- The driver side light on the opener flickers constantly when the lights are on
- After ~3 minutes since last use, the remote works regardless of location

This manifested in being completely unable to close the door while leaving the house unless someone got out and did it with the house-attached button. Drove vee batty trying to figure out why.

We finally put someone on a ladder to take the opener apart to look at the wiring. Turns out someone replaced one of the two lamps in the opener with an LED bulb and that lamp was directly over the antenna for the remote, and it was emitting RF interference.

So while the lights were on it'd fail to receive the remote. Once they shut off a few minutes later it'd work fine.

Weird AF failure state.

@trysdyn Ah, that would do it. LED lights cause all sorts of problems like that.
