food, spices, request for advice
So we ended up getting some za'atar because we found it at the grocery store and we know it tastes good
we have no idea what things za'atar is good on, what do people recommend putting it on?

Is it good for mixing in with spaghetti sauce? (I've never even heard of this spice)
re: food, spices, request for advice
@Tathar Probably not, it's not that kind of spice
za'atar is mostly used in middle eastern cuisine and while i'm sure you could make that work with italian style sauces you'd have to know what you were doing a lot more than we do

I just take a box of spaghetti, pour in a jar each of tomato sauce and pesto, toss in whatever spices make it taste good, and mix in some white vinegar to give the sauce a sweet acidity.

@Tathar Feel free to give it a try! i don't think it'd work too well, but you may like it

I'd have to find it first. I've never heard of it before, and none of my local places sell it. I noticed that a lot of stuff people use on the West Coast isn't available here.

@Felthry ooh it's really good with chickpeas and olive oil!!
If you like bread you also might want to try your hand at making manakish which is basically bread with zaatar
I used most of mine for seasoning chickpeas with pasta. It made a really nice sauce with olive oil, butter, and parmesan
re: food, spices, request for advice
specifically that's za'atar the spice blend, which contains za'atar the individual spice along with other stuff
