pokésona idea

Ditto raised as a Poochyena who finally "evolved" when they accepted their nature as a Ditto... and put their own twist on the typical look of a Mightyena as their preferred form by adopting bits and pieces of what other pokémon species look like as the mood strikes them.

re: pokésona idea

@Felthry Basically, the goal is Huge Nonbinary Energy, a heaping scoop of "screw your boxes, life is a spectrum and I intend to find exactly where I'm most comfortable" on top, and a side of "defining yourself by your own rules is good, actually."

@LexYeen We love character/sona designs that emphasize self-determination 💚 💙

re: pokésona idea

@Felthry I think the seed for the idea was this: There's plenty of nonbinary folks who keep aspects of their assigned gender and remix the hell out of it to define themselves once they realize they're nonbinary, and that doesn't make 'em any *less* nonbinary for doing it. Everyone who's played pokémon long enough knows Ditto doesn't evolve, it just mimics. A pokésona, especially an anthro one, doesn't need to abide by game rules because the game rules are often framed by a strictly turn-based-combat metaphor.
