furry MTG mental image (also uh cloning/hive minds I guess)

Anthropomorphic sliver character, modeled off of the non-bipedal examples in the various card art - leaning towards the art from Time Spiral and earlier. Distributed hive mind, no dedicated queen, and the more bodies she has in one place the more each one looks like the others - and the fewer, the more visually distinct each is while still sharing some common features - akin to how slivers mechanically affect each other in the game.

Yes, she's become a fragmentary character in my head already. Yes, she's a planeswalker and yes her spark is distributed across the entire hive. No, she doesn't want to eat the entire multiverse - even for a hive mind that's a lot of work, she'd rather be an experience junkie.

And yes I just redrafted this because of pronouns. My characters get insistent.

Great. My brain's figured out her story: She was one of the slivers that was lucky enough to not materialize *inside* a volcano in Urborg during the Rathi Overlay. Unfortunately, she was unlucky in that she materialized *over* a volcano in Urborg, and none of her flight-capable kin were close enough for her to mimic their flight capabilities as she fell. The instant before she struck magma, her spark ignited and instead of plunging into magma she plunged through the border between worlds and into the depths of the Blind Eternities.

The sudden severing of the hive mind, and the echos of the Sliver Queen's death, paired with the ignition of her planeswalker spark caused something to shift inside her mind. She wasn't /part/ of the hive anymore. She /was/ the hive. A new one.

She doesn't know how long she drifted before "washing ashore," so to speak, on another plane. She doesn't know which, all she knows is she did what comes naturally to any unexpectedly-displaced sliver: Dig a burrow and hide in it while figuring out what the fuck just happened.

I kinda want to say it was either Ergamon, Murganda, or Pyrulea based on the impressions of lush jungles devoid of massive predators she's giving me.

Also she hasn't figured out a name yet.

Anyway. She figured herself out, albeit without realizing entirely what she was yet, and started her hive. Her logic was easy: since her progenitor and presumably all her siblings had perished, her responsibility was to ensure the survival of her species.

What she wasn't expecting was for her brood to be more of *her* - she thought they'd be little more than extensions of her will, what they wound up being were additional instances of herself in the hive mind. Multi-threaded consciousness, if that makes sense - one personality, one set of memories, but it's running on multiple bodies and minds the way a computer cluster system behaves like a single computer to its user.

Discovering she was a planeswalker was more disorienting than the ignition of her spark. One of her first generation was caught in the path of a flash flood during a hunting expedition, and in a panic she instinctively 'walked back to Dominaria - and was still connected to the rest of her hive mind.

She's spent the time ever since spreading across the multiverse, digging out hidden nests pretty much anywhere she can get away with it and staying well clear of Phyrexians

"Generational trauma from being used as a living security system by Phyrexians is a hell of a thing."

@LexYeen Multi-threaded consciousness is a great way to explain that, and a really good sort of multibodiedness
