New thing that I just think is super neat:
Music boxes.
Because as recording and distribution of music has gotten easier, as music becomes more portable, and as computers become cheaper to produce than mechanical novelties, little physical mechanical musical devices are disappearing.
I love mechanical things like that - and it’s such a simple mechanism with such a unique sound.

So. A search for music boxes where the cylinder can be changed out jumps the price up from affordable into the thousands.
My aunt has a thing from my deceased grandmother that uses 18.5 inch metal discs. Which is super neat, but I definitely cannot afford one of those.
