fun fact: ping-pong balls are made of the same stuff as flash paper.
-F/R
@Felthry good ol' guncotton
@starseeker they used to make billiard balls out of it too!
-F
@Felthry wait what? was flash paper also semirigid and very bouncy?
@lioness no, but they're made of the same thing in the same way that HDPE (milk jugs) and LDPE (ziploc bags) are made of the same thing--same thing, different structure
-F
@lioness the nitrocellulose molecules are arranged differently in flash paper compared to ping-pong balls or gun cotton, but they're still all nitrocellulose
-F
@Felthry should I try lighting a ping pong ball on fire & see what happens?
@lioness it will burn quickly and without leaving any smoke. be very careful if you do this, or just look it up on youtube
-F
this is why ping pong balls burn extremely quickly and without leaving any smoke if you light them on fire (please don't do this, or at least be very careful)
