@heatherhorns_lite what does "amber heard hate" mean?

abuse, misogyny //
@lioness @Felthry the internet was whipped into a frenzy about this, especially tiktok. There's tons and tons of videos and memes about it, it was kinda all over for a while, and people mocked Heard brutally. Like for example, there were trends of videos of people acting out Heard's allegation of abuse, openly mocking her in the process by acting like it's ridiculous.
I say allegations because I don't want to imply it would be more or less terrible if you believe her or not
abuse, misogyny //
@lioness @Felthry anyway as lioness mentions, it seems very possibly organized, and since the trial's meant to determine if abuse happened, there was a glaring lack of self-reflection.
Personally, I see it very much as a moment where all the internet feminism discourse was put to the test and we saw whether we'd truly made progress as a culture.

@heatherhorns_lite @Felthry my understanding is that the judge ruled the allegations were substantially true pretty early on in the process, but then there was still somehow a trial about whether depp losing contracts b/c he assaulted ppl & they didn't didn't stay quiet about it forever is the same thing as defamation or not? I don't really get it.

@Felthry @heatherhorns_lite there was a lot of hate directed at Amber Heard, who had been abused by actor Johnny Depp. like, a lot. possibly organized hate campaign a lot, possibly organized by media companies who stood to lose big if their star became known as a violent abuser.
