@heatherhorns_lite what is an "elsagate kid"?

@heatherhorns_lite what is "that kinda content slurry"?

@Felthry sounds like you might not have heard of elsagate! um, i guess it's worth looking up in a search engine, cause i think you need to see it for yourself
@heatherhorns_lite yes, we have never heard of this
i do not think we have the mental fortitude to look it up right now though. it sounds like the kind of thing that will ruin our day and we are kinda relying on this being an okay sort of day after a long week...

shortest possible explanation of elsagate
@Felthry @heatherhorns_lite waves of algorithmically generated animations using search engine optimized casts of corporate-owned characters, usually 3D rendered and featuring highly inappropriate subject matter, intended to take advantage of both youtube's autoplay algorithm and the tendency of overworked parents to leave children alone with youtube as entertainment to achieve artificially high view counts.
(i do not suggest looking for any examples.)
@heatherhorns_lite (you mean the weird youtube stuff, right)
@niss yeah, or more specifically, the brain-hack approach of it.
taking the way corporations today have upped the manipulation of our psychology to an obscene degree, and applying it to children
what worries me is that you can't just be like "well that's up to the parents" because considering how much life that jobs suck out of people these days, like, it doesn't strike me as reasonable to be able to really watch your kid OR let them just wander outside
@heatherhorns_lite yeah. its messed up and i have no idea what to do
@Felthry oh i just meant a child who would have been the target for that kinda content slurry
