saw elsewhere someone say that that a lot of 'non binary' ppl aren't doing enough, being proactive enouigh, and are just really cis at the end of the day

and while that could be true, i dont believe in expecting people to perform/put on/prescribe themselves to certain behaviors or ideas (in someone elses head) wrt to their own gender.
ppl dont exist for your gaze basically.

@CaribenxMarciaX Yeah that person was being gatekeepy. Gender doesn't have to be performative, and there is always the possibility that the person is staying in the closet for safety reasons. This is why we don't gatekeep our enby bretheren, on the off chance they might be "pretending to be enby", because acting on that suspicion does more harm than good.
It could also be that a person may initially be pretending to be enby, and then discovered that they actually are through their own roleplaying, and people who discover their gender that way should be supported too.
