thinking it'd be pretty cool if there was, like, a longform publishing app bolted onto mastodon

so you could write your longposts and publish them on the instance page, and then there'd be really any differentiating factor outside of css and stated goals for instances being different and maybe being communities

as it is, i'm kinda coming to the conclusion that federation and local spaces in themselves aren't actually enabling all that much different from twitter itself.

it's twitter you can self-host, but at the end of the day it's still twitter with twitter politics and twitter problems.

microblog posts are just one of them, although the use case that has taken off immensely
