So I said I was going to keep away from politics but I just heard about the social media outage affecting all the biggest sites that no one seems to know the cause of, and that Mike Pence was recalled to the white house suddenly yesterday...
...Something is going the fuck on.

@mawr Cloudflare also experienced another large outage, but traced it to a regular expression that had gone awry that started spiking CPU everywhere.
I’m willing to believe that Facebook being down is related to routing around CF as a DDoS provider, and the spillover effects from that continuing to knock stuff down. So not sure if attack mitigation.
Whatever is going on with the Pence recall, though, I have no idea.

@Goldkin Well that's good news at least!
My first thoughts on this came after seeing tanks show up in D.C. for the parade- all of our major social media networks suddenly having outages the day beforehand in that context were incredibly concerning. :x
