hummingbird prep, winter
Our winter hummingbird population is large enough now that I’ve put out three feeders for them.
Last winter, they were consuming 32oz of nectar a month. The consumption rate peaked this August/September, at this same amount every two weeks. It’ll probably go back down as more birds migrate South, though we have quite a few Anna’s hummingbirds that stay here year-round.
It’ll be interesting to see how they adjust to the new feeders.
