was thinking about universal basic income again last night, and along with the 160-something "studies" that have been done and are continuing which prove conclusively that just giving people money makes things better for everyone and does not in fact result in people using all their money to buy drugs and watch TV or whatever the fear is, there's the simple fact that people in Alaska still have jobs and haven't devolved into apathetic anarchy. y'know, Alaska? largest state in the United States by land mass? that HAS BEEN OPERATING WITH A UNIVERSAL BASIC INCOME SYSTEM SINCE 19 FUCKING 76? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska_Permanent_Fund

1. UBI is unequivocally needed in the US. Every study run shows it.
2. Blocking UBI and its studies is clearly a decision by capital to keep labor scared. Especially with their current obsession to try to convert knowledge workers back into peasants in a resource extraction and fasc economy, it goes hand in hand with Dobbs, trying to kill ACA, and looting all safety nets.
3. Hope to see tax from billionaires/millionaires moved to UBI, healthcare, and reversing Dobbs in my lifetime. Hell of a fight to get there, but very much needed.
