The whole thing about "don't draw manga/anime!" is kinda specious since it phrases busting ass on "real anatomy" etc as giving up on manga.
If you draw manga/anime styled stuff you've already seen that it's appealing, characterful, stylized shorthand. You want to do more illustrative stuff to learn, not as a permanent stylistic choice - you're figuring out where to stylize. When you come back to manga, it's gonna be a lot more *your* manga. If that makes sense?
