"polarized politics" um. We just had a President define whole chunks of the country as enemy, drawing support from overt white supremacists and a party gleefully deciding in favor of their guy no matter what, opposition to pandemic safety measures became violent, etc etc. There's no Dubya or Obama nicey-nice rhetoric where we pretend we can all meet in the middle because at the end of the day we're all Americans, leftists have already been murdered over this. Yeah, of COURSE it's gonna percolate it down to the kids refusing to play nice with anyone older expecting their right wing politics to go unchallenged. I'm lucky in that my parents are relatively centrist if kinda racist and homophobic, but otherwise you gotta pay me to sit quietly in the same room with any of this. Anyway I'm done for now.
