Huh. My family insisted their name was "Arono" despite the Russian spelling "Aronov," and I'd thought that might be a Ukranian thing since they were from there (how many Jewish families in NYC aren't?). I was thinking about any ties I have to the region, but apparently the Ukranian suffix is -ko, and -o is uh, Spanish. I'm apparently very diluted Sephardic, on top of everything else?

(This for reference is my great grandmother’s family. My great grandfather’s name is the last name I use for art, since both my grandparents were amateur artists and my mother/father/father’s family weren’t.)
