The whole Ukraine thing really upsets me and “there’s a war on killing and dehousing folks during a pandemic and inclement weather” is only a *fraction* of the upset, which I kinda feel bad about.
@Leucrotta probably the worst to me is the way companies and payment processors are pretty much literally removing regular Russians' ability to participate in the global economy to the cheer of crowds
@chimerror I hate that. Like Russians I know solves for better artists younger than me. Not exactly a hawkish fashy demographic. I’m watching them get hit by this - is it really going to hit Putin?
@chimerror that’s definitely part of it. The same dualistic simplification, and this time the media and politicians don’t have to *also* convince us our side is morally unquestionable. Where were the people who stand with Ukraine when it was US invading and bombing?
It feels really off… and that’s without how that could set up our next aggression, or how potentially Ukraine now has carte blanche to do anything.
And then there’s the hypocrisy about protests.
@Leucrotta spiritually it's honestly like the gross reestablishment of "normal" like a slap in the face for daring to think the pandemic would maybe change things
even though the US was not the one who invaded, it lets them stick their head in the sand of another war, an apology for the moment of fear and uncertainty among the blood thirsty media and war machine
And (burying the lede here) all the fucked up shit happening to regular people
