I was thinking about this, maybe I’m the last one to think of it, but the quasi cultural association of cats as female makes cat ownership a stand in for lesbianism. “There’s gotta be something wrong with her if she doesn’t want to screw ME.” (Because i dare not for a moment believe there’s any reason other’n others’ personal flaws why they wouldn’t screw me.)

So Matt Gaetz’ thing earlier this week is layered name calling - getting a degree w/o getting hitched, cat ownership, not good enough to date. It’s the sorta insult that would come from the top minds of your 10th grade. You don’t want to be like THAT do you?
Course the catch is misogyny means women have effed up no matter what they actually do, so only the most indoctrinated would be cool with his rhetoric, but that’s his audience, not us “everyone else.”
