Later I said;
“Portland has a certain self awareness that it’s shitty. Seattle residents will maintain they live in this awesome place the whole time price increases push them out to Everett.”
In retrospect I’m not sure this is true.
@Leucrotta My conviction that the greater Seattle area is awesome has nothing to do with the stuff that's built here—dropping modern civilization on a place is at best neutral and usually a detriment. What makes it awesome is the underlying texture of its place-ness.
@Leucrotta it feels true and I actually like this city, or at least think that it being one of the better cities in the US says a lot more about how shitty the US is than how good Seattle is
