Imho most but not all our transport issues could be solved with better bus and train systems, not EVs, not bikes, which opens up a ton of issues; there are places where having little separate vehicles does work better, stressing biking over busses is this nasty urban classism with bits of racism, inefficient public transit means folks will swap from bussing if possible and the result is an option never supported enough. So it’s this tangled mess with no end in sight.
@Leucrotta Individualized transportation can be useful for a wide variety of circumstances. That said, I agree with you. Individualized transportation should not be the primary variety of transportation a society uses by any stretch of the imagination, and systems favoring individualized transportation over collective/mass/public (pick whatever word you like, I'm not your supervisor) transportation will nearly always be less efficient by comparison.
@LexYeen there neeeds to be an option for people living/preferring rural Montana, etc; but we need to realize not everyone needs the same transportation as rural Montana. That’s nuanced and humans are bad at nuance especially when people with lots of money want them to believe it’s dualistic b/w all or nothing. I honestly don’t see a good end.
