oh for fuck's sake y'all need another background check? Y'all just DID one of them, I'm not gonna be guilty of any more profound crimes against humanity now than I was two weeks ago

I really hope it's not this

@Leucrotta "we want you to fail and there's got to be SOMETHING we can dig up!"

re: I really hope it's not this

@topaz whether it is or isn't - and it's probably not, in this shitty society it's probably something to make the background check people money - it FEELS like that, or possibly someone making me jump through hoops so that I give up.

re: I really hope it's not this

@Leucrotta yyyyepp :blobcatheart:

also huh, didn't think of the "making you jump through hoops so you give up" angle. *glares at food stamps and similar*

re: I really hope it's not this

@Leucrotta (and SSI is even MORE blatantly that, which is why we're not doing it)

re: I really hope it's not this

@topaz Fortunately I have coffee, I have an entire album of VERY schmaltzy Yiddish songs, and I did this recently enough that I don't need to look up new information so much as I need to bust ass to insert it in the right places.

re: I really hope it's not this

@Leucrotta Ooh, nice. That's good.

We need coffee, ourselves; more to bust this can't-think haze than anything else. Currently packing to head on out, but uh *eyes pantsless back half* yeah heh.

clothes! ... and cops

@Leucrotta well I guess it's a skirtless back half, now!

... fuck. do we really want to wear a skirt around the shitty Emeryville Target "security" who actively harass people? Better not...

re: clothes! ... and cops

@Leucrotta ... I wonder if I'd get someone deliberately trying to misgender us and ending up getting my gender /right/ by accident

that'd be a little funny

(...but also a dangerous situation)

re: clothes! ... and cops

@topaz I'd say try it but pack backup pants if you're really worried - if it works, you'll know you can get away with it some of the time.

re: clothes! ... and cops

@Leucrotta It's a good thing we have this giant backpack!

goings-out

@Leucrotta we are on the train!

... not the right train. Gotta hop off at Lake Merritt and wait 7 minutes.

goings-out

@Leucrotta Unsure whether I wanna hit the 19th St. convenience store for coffee and a milkshake, or head straight to the shitty Target.

Leaning towards 19th St. Might not even GO to Target, honestly. The aim of the trip is coffee and fresh air.

goings-out

@Leucrotta pupdate: we have acquired food! Whoever is responsible for the outside tables a block down the street fucking put them away...

Should have gotten a milkshake instead of this "banana" milk. But that'd be another $4.50 of food money.

I'm not sure I care. :3 We have plenty of food money anyway, as far as we know.

goings-out

@Leucrotta we have made it to the store, and inside, without incident! It is Poop Time [silly Keanu Reeves fart noises].

goings-out

@Leucrotta we got too much food to safely carry.

again.

maybe I should put some stuff back

goings-out

@Leucrotta okay, this does fit in two bags, and it's heavy, but I think we'll manage
barely

goings-out

@Leucrotta ggh I /knew/ these highfloor buses would be a pain in a skirt (we took an AC Transit bus out, they are lowfloor with no steps)

and either we're buying more or food is getting way more expensive all of a sudden. And they have _definitely_ been sneakily raising prices.

We spent $65 on groceries today. Nearly $30 of that was the two 6-packs of nutrition shakes (essential for times we can barely move and all food sounds bad). They used to be under $10 a 6-pack, now they're $14...

goings-out

@Leucrotta we are on the train home.

*curls up on train seat, grocery bags on the ground next to him*
... ow.

Follow

re: goings-out

@topaz Hopefully tomorrow you can take it a little easier, and slam ibuprofen tonight

re: goings-out

@Leucrotta ... WHY DID WE NEVER THINK TO TAKE MEDS.

[[blackfox?] maybe because a lot of the time it's more exhaustion than pain?]

hm true – I think the pain might be more of a new thing... or maybe we never noticed.

also :blobcatheart:

re: goings-out

@Leucrotta also we need to make not every goings-out a grocery run.

(when we spend significant money every trip we feel like we have to be Productive so usually we wind up hauling groceries home)

re: goings-out

@topaz Maybe pretty used to the idea of medication being prescription that it's hard to remember OTC stuff is a thing too?

re: goings-out

@Leucrotta huh. Huh. That could track.

though on the other paw, we haven't really had much in the way of prescription medications (there was the bupropion we had once but we never really took it)

re: goings-out

@Leucrotta also we are HOME.

*collapses.*

*doesn't move.*

of fucking COURSE the literal cop is in at the front gate – saw their car outside
it looks exactly like a cop car but with the markings removed – but it keeps the black-and-white paint scheme! Subtle. </s>

don't want THEM seeing us in a skirt but there's nothing we could fucking do about it, with the surveillance cameras.

re: goings-out; coming home, cops

@Leucrotta since there's nothing we could do to hide, I flipped The Finger at the camera

because after that one time (when they tried to tell us "you shouldn't be here" when we were just washing dishes at midnight)? yeah. fuck them.

re: goings-out; coming home, cops

@Leucrotta (well okay their car doesn't look /exactly/ like a cop car since the cops use SUVs around here, but it's /painted/ like a cop car and looks like, maybe a Dodge Charger or something? like the cop cars were back east. Maybe it's different kinds of cops, highway vs. regular, or something.)

re: goings-out; pain stuff

@Leucrotta ... re the pain talk

shit, do we have low-level chronic pain and just never thought it was enough to Actually Count??

or to take medications for

it's not like. really /bad/ pain. we just kind of constantly ache I think.

re: goings-out; pain stuff

@Leucrotta (roping @certifiedperson in too – context: I mentioned hurting while hauling the groceries home, Leucrotta was like "oof, yeah take an ibuprofen when you get home" and I was like "???!!! we can do that?? oh of course we can do that holy fuck why didn't I think of it" – ...and now I'm wondering if we have low-key chronic pain and just never thought it was enough to count, or to take medications for.)

re: goings-out; pain stuff

@topaz @Leucrotta YES you are allowed to take painkillers if you hurt! but also PLEASE be a bit careful with how much you're taking, how frequently (not too many days in a row, should have a guideline on the packet? Hopefully?) because ibuprofen can and will fuck up your stomach & cause severe acid reflux in the longterm.

If it's just a couple times a week then I'm mostly sure you're copacetic.

re: goings-out; pain stuff

@certifiedperson @Leucrotta copacetic copacetic copacetic

... we haven't tried ibuprofen at all yet

and, packet? huh. yours comes in packets? we have a big bottle. couple hundred pills or something.

*looks at bottle* well poo, the label is wearing off, but I THINK it says "120 tablets"
it's lasted us a couple years at least, I think!

re: goings-out; pain stuff

@topaz @Leucrotta oh right yeah we saw this discussion about that a while ago, how y'all get MASSIVE bottles of OTC painkillers over there! (Just because they are OTC does not mean they are super safe! Unfortunately.)

Our supermarkets are limited to I think selling one packet (20tab) per person/sale each of paracetamol & ibuprofen, and those are in the little cardboard box in uh, is it blister packs? With the flat plastic/foil thing where you push each pill out through the foil individually.

re: goings-out; pain stuff

@certifiedperson @Leucrotta oh wow! wow.

those things, we get pseudoephedrine/pseudonephrine/whateverthefuck is the one that doesn't work as well but can't be used to make Illegal Drugs™® (because of course we can't have nice things because People Might Get Their Drugs 🙃) in those.
