Actually, Americans: did your teachers in k-12 school ever get outwardly political? Like, as in, you would get the skinny on fox news that day? Your teacher volunteered their feelings on islam, etc

@heatherhorns_lite weirdly one of my most conservative seeming teachers passed on one of the mildest complete myths (that you need conservatives and liberals to balance each other out in terms of progress and expense). Most everyone stuck to (distinctly right) textbooks; and we were told Reagan was winning the Cold War and giving us back pride we’d lost in Vietnam.
@heatherhorns_lite The most vehemently Christian (mandatory prayer/silence before lunch) possibly racist teacher (4th grade) unironically said the south would rise again etc, she was an outlier but there was no equivalent left leaning outlier. Given my age and where I grew up I don’t think my experience is typical for masto.
