Opinion about online atheism, includes slurs
Problem is, whenever I hear anyone go off about religion being this terrible unnecessary burden, I don’t hear f’rex “what we know for sure is we’re here now and it’d be terrible to make things worse,” I hear “you silly kikes and ragheads clearly lack the wisdom of us Western Europeans and should abandon your backwards traditions.”

@Leucrotta Yeah, we've seen a few people on here who are like "religion should be ended!" and like... WTF no. That's the same kind of things the Christians do with their "everyone must be converted" and it's /also/ not okay.
(But we're atheist and not like that, so like, there's multiple types of atheism. The nasty ones are just louder, as in a lot of things.)

@Ylfingr that’s the thing, atheism is I feel an inspiring and optimistic take, and giving people (on Bluesky actually) benefit of the doubt they’re NOT being toxic about it… but there’s been so much toxic discussion it’s hard NOT to feel I’m being subjected to it again.
