I know it's my standard joke but for DECADES now I keep forgetting how the first songs on this album are about anger, abuse and chronic psych problems, and then BOOM abruptly into whining like Anakin about getting laid

At least in Downward Spiral, the Dumped song is part of the ongoing parade of misery, as opposed to Pretty Hate Machine which starts out so fucking strong and then whoooo completely off the rails into every trans dyke's worst assumptions about cis men.

My reaction to "Reptile" has always been "dang I wanna be that lady, she sounds super powerful if she can get Trent to whine about not being allowed to stick his dick in her any more for this long".
