*yaps at @Leucrotta and wags* =^.^=
@topaz *whuffs*
@Leucrotta *whuffs and licks your snoot!*
we went to the coffeeshop and applied for a few jobs today!
How're you?
@topaz I'm okay. This was NOT one of the worse visits with my parents, so I'm less caught up in how dealing with them feels terrible, and feel worse about how crummy things currently are for *them* right now. I'm definitely feeling like a shower in a bit, maybe having half an edible.
I'm looking forward to drawing and reading tomorrow tho. Maybe going to a fave Chinese place and getting congee with pork and century egg.
@Leucrotta Oh that's good! ![]()
Speaking of Chinese stuff, we gotta find a Chinese (or other Asian) grocery store for some fancy tea. :3
@topaz Koreana Plaza used to be my fave place to shop while I lived in Oakland/Alameda but I don't remember what their selection of tea was like. The Ranch 99 Market in Richmond is pretty good too AND they're in the same complex as has a Tea Ren, which I used to like for my favorite Ti Quan Yin
@Leucrotta Oooo thanks good to know!
We've never been all the way up to Richmond (and gotten off BART, anyway). Closest we ever got was the time we ran all the way up to... I think it was somewhat north of El Cerrito? to try to get a Craigslist free speakers, but someone else had gotten there first.
@topaz https://www.tenren.com/ti-kuan-yin-tea-bags.html this shit's a great buzz for me, so it might really put you to sleep, ymmv
@Leucrotta *snort* ADH be weird :3
@Leucrotta Oh nice, 20 bags for $4.50 is about the same as grocery store tea, in fact probably slightly cheaper.
@Leucrotta Perhaps we should get a temperature controlled kettle at some point, too. Though that'd be a little expensive.
The one we have is great but it just does boiling.
@Leucrotta we did find a guide for estimating temperature from bubble sizes! https://zhaozhoutea.com/fish-eyes-in-your-kettle-chinese-water-temperature-methods/
Made green tea with that today, and I think we estimated it wrong. Water was probably a bit cool and we needed to steep for 5 minutes instead of 3.
@Leucrotta (unrelated: home! *flop* which is good because we are SO. HUNGRY. Maybe we shoulda gone to the Panda Express next to the Colma coffeeshop for dinner. Instead we just had the stroopwafel in our backpack.)
@topaz oh how cool! Apparently I've been making genmaicha wrong all this time. I'm not great with tea, since my introduction to tea drinking was my dad and HIS introduction was what, a British chemistry department? so it's all about the "dump hot flavored water down throat quickly"
@Leucrotta Oh neat!! :3
@Leucrotta unfortunately this is kind of hard to use for us because uh,,,we don't know how big the various sea creatures' eyes are :3
the pictures do help, but still.
@Leucrotta For the more British stuff, we've been really enjoying Irish Breakfast!
@Leucrotta Hey have you seen our new teacup? :3 We got it at Ikea!
The saucer is a WAY bigger deal than we thought it would be, it actually keeps the teacup impressively stable on soft surfaces like the bed! Suddenly we don't have to constantly worry about it falling over and spilling hot tea everywhere.
@Leucrotta It's like "if you're using a kettle, it'll only start making noise at the fish eye stage" but ours starts making noise almost immediately...
@Leucrotta ooo!
Hope Koreana Plaza has those, so we could use food stamps.
