@Leucrotta Some questions had obvious "correct" answers – "fast paced work environment", for instance – but most of them weren't.
@Leucrotta (I want a real job, but we can't seem to GET a real job, and a crappy retail job would let us start to pay off our credit card debt even though it's nowhere near enough to live on our own on...)
@Leucrotta (it still won't save us if we get kicked out on the street though, not with these rents.)
envelope money calculations
@Leucrotta IIRC the Target we applied to (which is the Emeryville one where we get our groceries) pays $19 an hour.
If they give us 20 hours a week, that's... let's see... $19*20h*50 (weeks in a year)/12 months = $1500 a month?
Taxes. Let's say *0.8. $1200 a month.
That MIGHT pay rent in some crappy place, BARELY. Although phoo, they'd probably want us to make like 3-4x the rent amount or they wouldn't let us rent...
So if the place we're living finds out we have a job and kicks us out because "oh you have it made now!", we're still screwed.
If they DON'T, though... we could pay for an MSF course! We could pay for a motorcycle! We could GO PLACES, and not be limited by transit for the tech jobs we can apply to! (e.g. the jobs over east a ways, where BART doesn't go. Also San Mateo would be easier to get to.)
envelope money calculations
@Leucrotta Of course that's if they give us 20 hours a week. Which I bet they won't, if our summer job ages ago is any indication.
If they give us 10 hours a week, that's 19*10*50/12*0.8 = $600 a month. Still decent for paying debt. Nowhere NEAR rental-required money though.
If they give us 15 hours, that's 19*15*50/12*0.8 = a nice even $950 a month.
@Leucrotta I made up a special low-paying-jobs résumé... and they didn't even have a place to put one, except for the autofill. So haha that's one less thing to worry about.
(I didn't autofill, but maybe I should have. I don't like having to go correct where the autofill got it wrong, though.)
@Leucrotta (we were doing the application process at Philz, but they apparently do in fact close at 7 today instead of 8, haha oops! So we got dinner at Panda Express and now we're sitting in the Colma Target Starbucks area to do the assessment and stuff. Kind of meta!)
(I don't think we have anything we need to get here, though. Maybe we should grab some food of some sort. Then it's home time.)
@Leucrotta YEPPP. Applying to Target again, since it's been a few months.
