@Leucrotta (I have two other examples of things that are pushed really really hard as "the way of the future" in their respective space but they're both Linux nerdery things (systemd and Wayland if you're wondering))
@frost I'm usually really skeptical about Marxist rhetoric, but AI definitely makes me want to quote the whole "communism or barbarism" thing
@frost like... maybe if we had UBI and/or being an artist or writer wasn't MADE to be starvation wages, people would care less about a plagarism machine to enrich tech bros. Maybe if we didn't have a looming environmental crisis, using enormous amounts of water to power plagarism machines wouldn't matter as much. Maybe if we didn't have a hostile system that required the constant APPEARANCE of expanding profits, nobody would need to shove plagarism machines down everyone's craw.

And it'd be real nice if everyone told to "implement AI it's the next big thing!" could just laugh it off and say no.

@Leucrotta I'm looking at job listings for "AI engineer" this, "AI startup" that, and just... fuck. It's looking impossible to get a job that a) is related to our existing skills and b) isn't actively evil.
