Part of what interests me about zoology, archaeology, and old industrial stuff is; these animals, societies, and bits of tech are designed to do many of the same things we have, and maybe it's not as fast or efficient, but they do it pretty well. That's interesting of itself and a nice counter to this idea that what's being pushed now is better than anything before and you must run out and buy it if you've not got one already, sort of a capitalist rephrase of Victorian elitism.
